Increase eBay Sales Using a Template

Listing items for sale on eBay can be tedious. As if taking all the photos and measuring things weren't time consuming enough, you have to then fiddle around writing all the information your customers will need to know in the description.

What if you could tweak the process so you wouldn't only save time, but would make additional sales as well? That's what I have done with my templates. Not only do I not have to retype shipping information each time I list an item in my store, but I can easily put links in my auctions that redirect customers to specific areas of my store.

Save Time, Make Money

For example, I sell lots of plus-sized clothing. I keep a .txt document open on my laptop while I am listing that has the template I've customized especially for those auctions. Take a look:

What I am hoping for, of course, is that an interested customer will click on the link in my auction and head on over to the plus-size section of my store to make more purchases.

I have a template for regular-sized women's clothing as well. It directs customers to the regular-sized portion of my store. I have yet another for men's clothes, and so on. It takes about two seconds to copy the appropriate template code from my Notebook document and paste it in the description area of the listing -- not bad for an action that can pay off in a big way.

A Template Is Your Storefront

I have yet to meet anyone who thinks that eBay's interface is especially attractive. If you have a brick and mortar business, chances are, you're going to tailor its appearance to your customer. For example, if you're selling toys, you might have a bright sign with a clown logo and a window display full of stuffed animals. Whereas if you're selling tobacco, you might go for elegant wood decor and a sign in hunter green.

The same is true for your eBay auctions. Your customers will know they're in the right place when the look of your listing matches what you're selling. So if you sell women's clothing, use a template that speaks to the demographic you're targeting. Likewise if you sell electronics, tools, art or any of the myriad other items that one can sell in a huge online marketplace.

When you look professional and make your customers feel at home, they're certain to feel more comfortable ordering from you. The result, of course, is more sales. Why not try a template for yourself and see? You can find my templates here. I'll be happy to insert your store name into the header at no extra charge. And if you're wondering if you're up to using a template at all, check out my tutorial so you can see what's involved before making the leap. But once you have, you won't regret it!
